How we check this
Every product is confirmed, not guessed.
Over 1,100 products in the catalog, each one checked against the manufacturer's own page before it goes live. The compatibility you see, which hubs a device needs and what it works with, is the same data that runs the builder. Here is exactly how we get it and what we do when we are not sure.
The manufacturer is the source of truth
Every product links to the official manufacturer page. That page is what we use for the name, model number, dimensions, protocols, and ecosystem support. If a spec is not stated there, we leave it blank. Blank is honest. Guessed is worse than blank.
Two sources for the things that matter
The specs that decide a purchase, hub requirement, dimensions, weight, and power, are confirmed against a second source as well (Amazon, a certifying body like the Matter or Z-Wave Alliance, or a hands-on review). If the two disagree, the manufacturer wins and we note it.
Compatibility is real data, not a label
Protocols, hubs, and ecosystem support are recorded as structured values with a qualifier: works natively, works through Matter, or needs a bridge. That is what lets the builder actually check whether your devices work together, instead of just printing a "works with" badge and hoping.
Prices carry the date we checked them
Every price shows when we last confirmed it against the manufacturer. Smart home prices move fast, so a date you can see beats a number you have to trust. Stale prices get flagged for a re-check.
Region matters
A US device and its EU version are often different hardware on different radios, so they are separate entries. You see the region a product is sold in, not a blurred-together listing.
We keep the older gear that still works
Discontinued products stay in the catalog with a clear label and the date we last confirmed them, because people keep using what works. A Z-Wave switch from a few years ago is still real, still in homes, and still belongs here, honestly marked.
Real product photos, kept on our own servers
Images come from the manufacturer and are stored on our side, so a listing never breaks or quietly swaps to a random user photo later.
A record behind every row
Each product carries who added it, when, and the sources we checked, so any claim can be traced back. If something looks wrong, tell us and we will recheck it against the manufacturer.
Where we make money
Some links to buy a product are affiliate links, so we may earn a commission if you buy through them. It never changes your price and it never changes what we list or how we describe it. The manufacturer is always the final word. More in our affiliate disclosure.
