Needs the cloud
Good fit if you use Amazon Alexa or Google Home.
- Runs on Arlo's cloud and app. If that service goes down or shuts off, the device stops working.
Works with
Works with Amazon Alexa, Google Home out of the box, no hub needed.
Google HomeAmazon Alexa
✓ full support (native, Matter, or a built-in integration).
Run a different system? Find an indoor camera that works with Apple Home.
Subscription
- Cloud video recording & AI alerts needs Arlo Secure (single camera) ($7.99/mo). Live view and two-way audio work without a plan; cloud recording needs a subscription.
Joe should know
Arlo puts most of its value behind Arlo Secure. Without it, newer Arlo cameras give you live view and basic alerts but do not save video to the cloud, and AI person and package detection stays off. Plans start around $8 a month. An Arlo base station can store video locally to skip the fee.
