Smart floor lamps

Smart floor lamps split into two jobs: filling a corner with soft light, and throwing color on a wall behind a TV. They are built very differently, so decide which one you want before comparing them on price.

What decides compatibility

  • Uplight, downlight, or both changes the whole effect. An uplight-only torchiere cannot be a reading lamp.
  • Wi-Fi models need no hub. Zigbee and Thread models need a bridge or border router.
  • Check brightness in lumens, not watts. Ambient color lamps are often much dimmer than they look in product photos.

How these connect to your system

A works-with badge does not say how the device gets there, and the path changes what you get. Direct means the maker built the integration and the device's own features tend to come with it. Via Matter means the standard controls work and anything unusual about the device may not carry over. Via a hub means you need a second box, usually the maker's own, before it works at all.
